While chasing down a request from a former student, I happened to pick up the course catalogs Parkland used in the early 70s. Somewhere in there I saw a "Homemaking Techniques" class, but I've been unable to find it again for a full quotation.

Other highlights:
- A full watch-repair curriculum of 8 classes
- An entire class on how to use a mimeograph machine
- A "Deviant Psychology" course which includes homosexuals in the core topics
- Recreation 102: Principles and Philosophies of Recreation (or, How to Have Fun 101)
- A 21-course program in Secretarial Science
- Phys Ed 261: Officiating of Women's Basketball, Volleyball, and Softball (yes, the men have separate classes; no, they're not listed as "Men's)
- Also Phys Ed 145: Self-Defense for Women
- A three course program in "Afro-American History," where "Black" is always in quotation marks
- Forensics were called "criminalistics"
- Non-major courses in Nursing, Pharmacology, Piloting, Welding, and Motorcycle Repair
- Astronomy was in the Geography department
- The "Creative Activities" department
- 11 faculty members in the "Veterans Services" department
- An entire discipline of "Micro-Precision Technology"
- Computer programming classes that taught COBOL

And from the General Studies Department:
- 725 Intro to Beekeeping
- 741 Keypunch Operation
- 826 Food for the Aged
- "850 Sex Education for the Helping Professions: How to talk to children about sex. When to start. How much to tell them. Discussion covers possible approaches and communication techniques."
- 851 Child Rearing
- 951 Physical Fitness for Women, featuring "Rhythmical Exercises"
- "971 Creative Dance Movement: Exploration of the body, and the different types of movement possibilities. Structured movement experiences and improvised free experience."

Wow. Just.... wow.
