One of the things I said I'd do when I finally got money was to go back and buy all the comic series I'd meant to own for years. So I picked up Transmetropolitan, and Y: the Last Man, and now I'm about a third of the way through reclaiming Preacher.

Over the few years it's been since I read it last, the things that stuck in my mind were the gross-outs: the people getting their jaws shot off, and Arseface, and the meat-bride in Salvation. So I was actually a little unsure that I wanted to own the series-- but I went ahead and bought the first volume anyway.

I'm pleased to report that it's still the story I fell in love with ten years ago-- I'd just forgotten the good parts. Reading it again makes me think of wide deserts with big, open skies and wish John Wayne would talk to me.

It's a good feeling, rediscovering something that was lost. And now, by the grace of a real job, I don't ever have to lose it again. :)
