Some thoughts on this season of Doctor Who

kilroyMy friends Sam and Claire and I were discussing it, and we all agreed that the word for this season appears to be "competent." There haven't been a lot of "oh, WOW" moments, but there haven't been essentially any "you've got to be kidding me" moments either. As a team they're way less extreme than the RTD group. And as Claire pointed out, as frequently happens with a new production team-- it's a building season. They're getting their feet under them, and next season shows nothing but the promise of awesome.
1) The reason everyone knows what caused the big bang and the Doctor doesn't is because the Doctor did it. It explains the funny looks everyone's been giving him and the piece of the TARDIS.
2) When the crack absorbed Rory (not deleted, mind, but absorbed), he integrated into it. The reason the cracks have been following Amy around and why they're fixated on the date of their wedding is because the cracks are Rory.
3) This one's a little more iffy, but: the "good man" that River killed was Rory. After his integration into the cracks he became a threat to the universe. The Doctor wouldn't kill him and/or was going to die as a result, so River did it for him.
