kilroyVerdict: The author is trying so hard to be sort of folksy back-country New England that she utterly buries the characters and plot in linguistic acrobatics and obvious stereotypes. This might be fun for a few pages as a humorous exercise, but not for a whole book. (9.5/26 keepers)
