kilroyI know you love Steven Moffat, and know from experience that he can be awesome. I know you've watched other stuff with Matt Smith, and know that he too could be great. But let's manage our expectations a little so as not to risk crushing disappointment.
It's a regeneration episode. Those are nearly always mediocre if highly comedic.
It's a new production team. That always takes a year to really get their feet under them. This season will be fairly standard Who, and they won't start doing anything really daring until next year.
Expect it to be okay, which it almost certainly will be. Then if it's actually awesome, it will have excelled. :-)
