Strange Dream 3-1-04
Mar. 1st, 2004 08:35 amSo, it was spring break and I flew to Oregon to see Stacy. I hadn't called her about it, so I was a little worried, but I got to her (new) house--which I had never seen--and fortunately for me, her garage was open and the key was hanging neatly inside. So I went in, and it was small and a little dingy, and waited in the hot for a few minutes. I went for a walk past some monolithic corporate buildings. When I came back she was home and we started chatting. There were nude sunbathers next door, and her shower was "around the back." Eventually she took me out to a party to show me something. It was dark in the building, but without the blinking raver lights. I tried to put my arm around her once but she slipped away.
OK, so far this is all relatively normal Freudian dream-stuff. I could psychoanalyze this myself, were I so inclined. Now comes the weird part (excuse the shift to present tense). It's just stopped raining outside, and me and a few of Stacy's friends (but not Stacy) go out to the parking lot. One of her guy friends and I start singing the lyrics to Singing in the Rain, and we inevitably start dancing down the lot. I lose the lyrics but keep on with the snaps and the instrumentals, and he keeps going, doing a very passable job with a lovely singing voice. Then follows a full version of the song in real time, with improvised but highly creative choreography, including gutter jumps. I remember being very disappointed that there were no appropriately sized lamp-posts-- there weren't any in the parking lot. When the song ended, thy guy and I walked back to the party, and I woke up.
What a bizarre way to start the day.
