In Smallville those moments were usually comedic, although I can think of a number of exceptions involving Lex and Lionel. In LotS it's never comedy that they really nail; it's precise little turns of drama where there's seventeen different ways to get it wrong and they get it right anyway. It's always between two characters and one of those characters is always one of the main cast. It's never when anyone's speaking about Big Stereotypical Fantasy Magic Stuff. But they're there, a few every few episodes and more as the series progresses.
In a lot of ways I like watching crap with occasional flashes of awesome better than watching consistently good television. It helps me appreciate those moments.
