Random BSG finale note
Mar. 22nd, 2009 11:32 pmI think that the finale makes more sense in some respects if you consider the fact that they lost. They categorically did not succeed in breaking the cycle.
They lost it the moment the Five joined up and a certain neck was snapped. That was the Opera House-- it was the big moment, the point where everything could change. But because of very basic human reasons, it didn't. Anything that would have logically followed from that point would have resulted in mutual annihilation. But Kara provided a loophole-- a way to start the cycle again as opposed to ending it completely.
I don't feel like it's about "technology = bad" at the end. Sure, the survivors abandon technology-- they think they can just put their entire history behind them and things will work out. They're wrong. Intentionally forgetting what brought them there will just mean it all happens over again.
Like always.
