Oh, television
Mar. 16th, 2009 02:00 pmSo, I finished the hilariously awful pilot for Birds of Prey over lunch. It was something I'd been meaning to do for years-- not as someone who loves the comic series (which I do), but as someone who runs a bad movie festival. I was not disappointed.
Really, it had it all. Bad writing, bad CG, bad production design, bad acting, bad costumes, bad voiceover, the works. Literally the only thing I saw that they did right was that they gave Helena sensible boots to fight in. And of course they tried to pull a Batman Beyond and rewrite the continuity, but they couldn't really find a leg to stand on. The Burtonesque Catwoman costume was extra great.
Really, watching it reminded me of watching Night Man. I almost lost my food through my nose a few times. I'll probably watch the next episode or two to see if the carnival of crap continues, then move on with my life. In the meantime, I will enjoy it for what it is: terrible.

#288: The only time when looped recordings of big cats will help the immersion of the audience is when there are actually big cats on screen. (Birds of Prey)
