Shows which are entirely themselves
Jan. 25th, 2009 09:34 amYou know, I want to post something about Burn Notice this week, but in truth the best summation I can give of its return is: it was Burn Notice, and was good. The show has been remarkably consistent-- if you like one episode of Burn Notice, you'll pretty much like any episode.
SPN and BSG were also very much true to themselves this week. Once again I really liked the microplot in SPN; it was something I don't think I'd seen in the show before, and done pretty well. But I wanted to beat Sam over the head at the end of the episode with a big missing-the-point-entirely club. He's the empathetic one, does he not understand what Dean heard during the big speech at the end?
BSG I dug hard but did not squee over, and I understand the rhythm of the show well enough to know that this is one of the episodes where they're setting up the pins to knock down later. I love the Chief more now that I ever did. I can't wait to see Roslyn either go full Ophelia or pull back from the brink. And I find myself glad that Zarek is in this series over and over again.
