Remember the tooth
Jul. 9th, 2008 02:13 pmSo, in my quest to try non-kidney-busting candies, I hit on Starburst for a while-- which are, of course, tooth-busting candies, and one pulled a crown off one of my back teeth during the middle of a roleplaying game I was running this Monday.
The dentist just put it back, amidst much mild joking and no real health risk. But I meant it when I said I was staying off these kinds of candies.
I have a mild oral fixation. I need to be eating or drinking something most of the time, and a little dose of sugar goes a long way towards retaining my focus at work. But with the various health difficulties I can't have anything with chocolate, nuts, highly acidic stuff (including my favorite fruits), I believe grapes, or things that are waxy or exceptionally sticky and might pull off my crowns.
I may have to seriously investigate the possibility of going back to my high school standby: the big bag of jumbo gummy bears. Or my middle school standby-- the extra large box of Hot Tamales. There are still options. But it's going to continue taking work to alter my diet.
Boo for being physically mature.
