Sean's Run at the Oscars II, 1-31-04

Add Master and Commander to the list. A good movie, very much in Peter Weir's tradition. I think this is the biggest movie in terms of scope he's ever attempted-- and he pulls it off well. Highly atmospheric, with good performances from pretty much everyone on the cast.

Does it deserve a slew of Oscars? No, but it deserves a few. Does it deserve Best Picture? Certainly not. Stacked against Return of the King, this one just can't compete. And I haven't even seen the other competition yet.
