1/3 of high school graduates never read another book for the rest of their lives.
42 percent of college graduates never read another book after college.
80 percent of U.S. families did not buy or read a book last year.
70 percent of U.S. adults have not been in a bookstore in the last five years.
I just... I cannot imagine a life without books. I literally do not know how these people live.
ETA: I still never go anywhere without a book, a notebook, and a pen. I started doing this when I was maybe twelve and I never stopped. Words are my constant companions, my art and my escape. To live without them would be to live without dreams-- to live in one world alone.
To me, choosing that would be like choosing to live without hope.
