In the beginning, in the darkling wood

This should be an interesting experiment. If you already know me, then you should start learning something new here. If you don't know me you can start.
I've been driven for some time to start a journal, but it took me a few months to piece out a quandary. It seems silly for me to start a journal in a public forum like this and then make the only really important entries private. But on the other hand, I value my anonymity-- and so will my friends, once I start posting.
So the solution I came up with is the obvious one. I'm not using any real names, not even my own.
That means I have an interesting opportunity. I've always sort of used the people in my life to represent different aspects of my experience... some people just have a real significance to me, usually one quite different from how they see themselves. They're part of my personal mythology, greater than just the sum of the time that I've spent with them.
So I'll be sharing some of these visions, naming those hidden coves in myself. They're not the truth, and they're not meant to be. But they'll allow me to build a language of my own to tell you about what I'm going through.
Maybe I'm a fool. I hope so.
