Fannish side note
Jul. 2nd, 2008 10:37 amI did not think I would like the Sarah Jane Adventures.
I like the Sarah Jane Adventures.
The writing is really, really good. It's a children's show (well, a tweener show) that doesn't dumb down the morality of the action or the complexity of the relationships. It's simple in places where it needs to be, but it doesn't condescend even a little bit.
And the actors, directors, cinematographers, etc. are no slouches either. I'm growing rather fond of the kids, and there are moments where Elisabeth Sladen does something and it's just so... Sarah Jane. Also, I have never liked the Slitheen better than in Gareth Robert's treatment of them. That story felt like it justified their existence in the Whoniverse.
So, if you like Doctor Who but are a little hesitant about that series, give it a try. You might not be disappointed.
