Other random reading notes
So, because I give half credit to books that I only want to read once, my total of 28 "keepers" is actually only 22 physical books that stayed on my shelf.
Starred ones got the "must lend to other people now!" flag.
Makers
Dancers at the End of Time*
Ysabel*
Old Man’s War*
Ghost Brigades*
Magic for Beginners
Artificial Things
Watchtower*
Portable Childhoods*
Door into Ocean
His Majesty’s Dragon*
Moon Flights*
War for the Oaks*
You’re All Alone
Jonathan Strange
Clay’s Ark
Under Camelot’s Banner
Curse of Chalion*
Garden of Iden*
Fisherman of the Inland Sea
Icefalcon’s Quest
Perdido Street Station*
Interestingly, out of those 22 books 15 are by women. Looking back at the "worth reading once" books, they're almost always by men. The ladies have an advantage in that I almost always keep short story collections, and all but one of the collections I read last year were by female authors. Still. The best of the best are about even, but it seems like women have a much more consistent record with books that are just solidly good.
