future plans
I keep thinking about this journal, and how to make use of it in any meaningful fashion. I use it to read friends' journals, so I'm going to keep it, but it seems silly to have the account and not use it constructively. I've tried doing book and movie reviews, which are fun, but they're hardly a public service and I read and watch so much stuff that being consistent about it is a real chore. I've tried just doing the daily chronicling of my life, but there are already how many millions of people posting just such meaningless tripe on this forum? It wouldn't really have any meaning for me, and it wouldn't really have much meaning for the three people that read my journal.
So. I have an idea. During NaNoWriMo, I sat down twice a day and banged out a thousand words. This was more or less how I got to my fifty thousand; by sitting down fifty times. It was really fairly easy to do that, and it was a both a great joy during the process and because of its implications for my writing in general.
As such, I think I'm going to do that here, starting on January 1st. I'm just going to sit down once a day and write for an hour or a thousand words, whichever comes first. Once I do so, I'll post whatever I have, unedited, to my journal here. I imagine that I'll spend time going back and editing as well, and I'll probably fudge days with that, but the important thing is to be writing consistently. This will be valuable to me in and of itself. Hopefully it will be fun for some of you guys as well.
When I do start, feel free to shout out about anything I post. Just remember that it's unedited, people. :)
